Second Thoughts........
I was browsing around different sites this morning and came upon this picture:
My first instinct was to decide that if I were on the surfboard...that I would give this wave a pass. Then immediately had second thoughts! What if the shark didn't ride with the wave and after the wave passed, there I would be facing a rather large shark. Even if the wave took the shark towards shore, the shark would still be between me and the shore....not a good option either! At least the guy in the picture is doing the one thing I know for sure that I would have done....pull my legs and feet out of the water. It does not help in my case that I have a HUGE fear of sharks so much that I could not watch the movie Jaws until I was in my late 40's. When I was a child living in San Diego, CA around the time I was about 8 or 9 years old, we had sharks coming into 3 feet of water on our shorelines and biting people. As an adult, I realize they were not biting....well, yes they were but in reality, they were actually trying to eat the people in the water. It had gotten so bad that the radio stations were broadcasting the do's and don'ts of going into the ocean. I had put up with the jellyfishes but when they added sharks to the list, I developed a love for swimming pools.

interesting question of what would do and great picture. Judi
That would have been a scary site no doubt.
Hugs'n'Smooches!
Yep! And that's the very reason that I tend to hang out at the pool instead of lying on a raft in the ocean like a big piece of shark bait.
WOAH!!! @_@
What did you think of the Canadian Heslth Plan? I did not think that much of it. I that it is worse than a HMO. At least it seemed worse than Kaiser like we have here. Those pictures was cute of the great grandchildren. I don't want into any ocean if there is sharks swimming around looking for food.
The leaves were quite beautiful today as I walked. I love autumn, Judi
Wow, what a picture!!
I can't believe anyone got the quote! *LOL* That's great!
are you familiar with the chinese delicacy shark-fin soup? well there are actually whole villages all over asia that make their living off of hunting sharks for their fins for this particular delicacy. and these villages are poor, so they don't have all kinds of fancy gadgets like nets and big boats and special lines and harpoon guns and what not. what they have are just simple harpoons or spears that they dive into the water with. that's right, they actually fight the shark themselves! and many of them have some savage scars/missing limbs to show for it.
OOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo........the picture! I would already be dead from having a heart attack! Ha! Ha! I would not exactly feel very comfortable being that close to a shark, let me tell ya!
How are you? I hope all is well. Thank you so much for stopping in. I try to get on here just for a few minutes before I start my work shift in the morning. That is the only time I have to get on here. I am so sorry. I miss all of you. You take care. I hope to be able to share pictures soon.
Love, Hugs and Friendship,
~Kim~
Interesting about that pic...it's not a shark...it's a dolphin! Still, I'd be scared to death!
RYC: Thank you! *hugs*
I can't swim - so both the sea and the pool are out for me.
ryc: I opened a whole new site. It's been some time since I've been here @ xanga; when I had the meltdown of a lifetime (eventually I'll probably blog about that too, doesn't that sound wonderfully soap opera-ish?? LOL), I closed my journal.
Ballooning is wonderful, I love it - if your friends nearby are willing to extend rides, I'd definitely recommend you give it a shot. My son is working on Junior Pilot now, which is certainly more adventurous than his old Mom. I'll crew, I'll chase, but I won't fly!
Thanks for stopping by!
